As an effort to quickly enter the Southeast Asian market, VinFast has launched two SUV type electric cars, opened a dealer, and announced the construction of an electric car factory in Indonesia—all within five months. These steps emphasize VinFast's strategy to dominate the electric vehicle market which continues to grow in Indonesia.
VinFast made its debut at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) and immediately won two awards: “Favorite SEA Premier Launch” dan “Best Booth Car”. At the exhibition, VinFast displays various types of right-hand drive SUVs, including VF 5, VF e34, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9.
Continuing success at IIMS, VinFast participates in GIIAS 2024, The largest automotive exhibition in Indonesia and one of the largest in Southeast Asia. At GIIAS, VinFast will showcase its entire range of electric vehicles, starting from VF 5 to VF 9. The first two models launched in Indonesia, VF 5 dan VF e34, will be available for test drives with a right-hand drive configuration.

Indonesia also has advantages in natural resources, like nickel, copper, cobalt, and bauxite which is vital for the production of electric vehicle batteries. However, building a strong EV industry requires more than just natural resources; membership is also required, skilled workforce, and investment.
Indonesia is targeting 2,5 million electric vehicles on 2025 And 600 thousand on 2030. The government also plans to expand the electricity charging infrastructure network, supporting the growth of the domestic EV market. Sales of electric vehicles in Indonesia are soaring 700% on 2022, especially electric motorbikes, indicating a huge opportunity in this market.
VinFast also plans to build a factory in Indonesia with an annual production capacity of up to 50 thousand electric vehicles. This facility will strengthen VinFast's supply chain and competitiveness at the global level.
