BYD officially launched the latest variant of the Seagull electric hatchback, namely Seagull Free Edition, especially for the Chinese market. This launch also marks a major achievement because cumulative sales of Seagull have exceeded one million units since it was first released in April 2023.
The Free Edition variant offers significant improvements, especially at the distance it has now reached 405 km based on CLTC standards. Besides that, This car comes with a brighter interior, additional safety features, as well as competitive prices approx 78.800 yuan or around Rp. 175 million.
Like the previous version, Seagull Free Edition is built on the e-Platform platform 3.0 owned by BYD. This car still has an electric motor 55 kW with maximum torque 135 Nm which is placed on the front, Suitable for use in the city and medium distances.
The battery uses a high capacity lithium iron phosphate type 38,88 kWh. For charging, This car supports DC fast charging which allows recharging from 30% the 80% in just approx 30 minutes at room temperature.
From a design perspective, Updates were made to the rear of the car with a new BYD logo adjusted to the front design. The roof coating was also updated using a more durable fabric material, as well as the addition of the interior color "Sand Dune Pink" two colors that give a fresh effect.
Convenience features are enhanced with Type-A and Type-C charging ports on the front, which is now the standard. The Type-C port is even capable of producing up to 60W of power. An automatic power on-off function is also included to make daily use easier.
For entertainment, Seagull Free Edition has a touch screen 12,8 inches floating with the DiLink infotainment system 100. The system supports voice commands and cloud connectivity. The highest trim even features an advanced driver assistance feature with three cameras called “God’s Eye C”.
In terms of security, All variants are equipped with six airbags. Besides that, lighting system, horn, and air conditioning has also improved. For older variants, Prices start from 63.800 yuan or around Rp. 144 million, with additional trade-in subsidies from the government and BYD of up to IDR 45 million.
