Otodiva – In the midst of an economic slowdown and market decline Indonesian automotivea, Mazda remains confident of being able to achieve its sales target 5.300 car units in year 2024. Predictions of the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) shows that total car sales in Indonesia this year will probably not reach 1 million units. However, Mazda sees bright potential behind these conditions.
Ricky Thio, Managing Director of Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI), firmly expressed this optimism at the Mazda Power Drive event which took place in Jakarta. “We believe we can sell 5.300 Mazda car units in 2024, same as last year, said Ricky.
He also expressed that achievement Mazda at the GIIAS event (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2024 shows a positive signal, where Mazda managed to sell 883 car units during the exhibition. “Penjualan kami di GIIAS kemarin mencapai 883 unit. For me that's a great achievement, considering the market is down and competition is getting tougher. So, I feel quite happy with the results,” ujar Ricky.
Although there are concerns about a decline in sales, Mazda still sticks to the target that has been set. “Apakah target kami berubah? Last year we managed to sell 5.300 unit, and this year we are trying to achieve the same figure. To date, around 3.700 the unit has been sold. We are very optimistic that we can achieve the minimum target 5.300 unit,” explained Ricky.
He added that Mazda's confidence is not only based on sales numbers, but also on the attractiveness of their products in the eyes of consumers. “We believe consumers still want to experience the pleasure of driving a Mazda. Our products offer an engaging driving experience, and that is what makes us confident that this target can be achieved,” ujar Ricky dengan penuh keyakinan.
Automotive Market Decline
However, It needs to be acknowledged that the Indonesian automotive market is experiencing a significant decline. Data from Gaikindo shows that new car sales are wholesale (sales from factory to dealer) throughout January to June 2024 just reach 408.012 unit, which means down 19,4 percent compared to the same period the previous year, where sales reach 506.427 unit.
This decline can also be seen in terms of retail sales. Throughout the first semester 2024, retail sales of new cars only reached 431.987 unit, down 14 percent compared to the January-June period 2023 which recorded sales of 502.533 unit.
Although these figures show a downward trend, Mazda doesn't see it as an insurmountable obstacle. On the contrary, Mazda sees it as a challenge that encourages them to work harder and be more creative in offering mobility solutions to consumers.
Mazda also strengthens its confidence by seeing consumer interest in their vehicles, especially those who want to experience the driving pleasure promoted by this brand. They believe that with the right product and an approach that focuses on consumer needs, Mazda will be able to survive and even grow amidst a sluggish market.
Mazda's confidence in facing current market challenges shows how they are ready to compete and remain relevant in the Indonesian automotive industry. With solid achievements in GIIAS and a strategy that focuses on consumer experience, Mazda is confident in its sales targets 5.300 car units can be achieved by the end of the year 2024.
Ricky Thio also added that his party will continue to monitor market developments and adjust strategies according to current needs and conditions. “We are always ready to adapt to market changes, and with our continuously updated products, We are sure that we will continue to have a place in the hearts of consumers,"concluded Ricky.
With all the challenges that exist, Mazda continues to move forward with the belief that they are able to achieve the targets they have set. Quality product, good service, and an engaging driving experience is the key to their success in facing the year 2024 this is full of challenges.
