Jakarta, Otodiva – Toyota memastikan kehadiran salah satu model populernya, namely Veloz in the hybrid version. PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) confirmed that the Toyota Veloz hybrid will be officially produced and marketed starting this year 2026.
This news comes directly from the President Director of TMMIN, Nandi Julyanto, which stated that preparations were being made to expand Toyota's electrification line in Indonesia. Previously, Toyota has presented the Innova Zenix Hybrid and Yaris Cross Hybrid, and recently introduced the Toyota bZ4X at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025. The Veloz hybrid is said to complement this electrification strategy.
Although it is planned to start production only in 2026, Nandi emphasized that his party wants the assembly process to be carried out more quickly. However, Technical factors and facility readiness mean that its realization can only be scheduled for next year. With the presence of this model, Toyota hopes to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive hybrid segment, while also responding to the demand of the domestic market which is starting to open up to environmentally friendly vehicles.

Model Details and Estimated Specifications
Leaks regarding the Veloz hybrid actually appeared earlier through the official document Permendagri Number 8 Year 2024, which includes the Sales Value of Motor Vehicles (NJKB) that model. From the document, terdapat kode “1.5” yang mengindikasikan penggunaan mesin 1,5 liter. Besides that, ada juga kode “HV” yang diperkirakan merujuk pada hybrid vehicle, serta “CVT” yang menunjukkan jenis transmisi.
Not only that, dokumen tersebut juga menyinggung kehadiran kode “Q”, which is most likely the highest variant, as well as the Toyota Safety Sense feature (TSS) as part of the safety package. The vehicle weight is called reach 1.050 kilogram, while NJKB was recorded in the range of IDR 264 million to IDR 284 million, on the basis of motor vehicle taxation (DP PKB) between IDR 277.2 million to IDR 298.2 million.
If it is true according to the data, The Veloz hybrid is expected to be in the middle price class which is quite competitive. This model could be an attractive option for consumers looking for a family vehicle with better fuel efficiency, but still maintains the flexibility of the MPV which has been the main attraction of the Toyota Veloz in the Indonesian market.
Prospects in the Hybrid Market and Production Challenges
The presence of the Toyota Veloz hybrid certainly strengthens the competitive map in Indonesia's electrification segment. At the moment, The hybrid segment is growing rapidly, with a number of Japanese and Chinese manufacturers offering similar models. Based on being one of the best-selling MPVs, Veloz hybrid has great potential to be accepted by the market.
However, the challenges faced are not small. Local production means Toyota must ensure supply chain readiness, including the involvement of the domestic component industry. The government's target on the level of domestic content (TKDN) will also be an important factor in keeping prices competitive. If not, there is a risk that the selling price will rise significantly, which could reduce its appeal compared to other hybrid cars or even pure electric cars that receive bigger tax incentives.
From the consumer side, The presence of the Veloz hybrid could offer an attractive alternative amidst fluctuating fuel prices. However, Purchasing decisions will still be influenced by the final selling price factor, fuel efficiency, as well as the availability of after-sales service. Toyota, as an old player in the Indonesian automotive market, certainly has the capital of consumer trust, but competition is getting tougher as new brands enter with aggressive strategies.
With certainty of launch on 2026, The Veloz hybrid is estimated to be one of the important models for Toyota in strengthening its electrification commitment in Indonesia. Although the opportunity is quite big, local production challenges, TKDN regulations, and market competition are determining factors for the success of this model.
If Toyota succeeds in maintaining a balance between prices, technology, and after-sales service support, Veloz hybrid can continue the MPV tradition as one of the most popular segments among Indonesian consumers—this time with a more modern environmentally friendly touch.
